Spotlight on WCAMPWA
Glenco is pleased to recognize the great work of the Westchester County Association of Public Works Administrators, Inc. (WCAMPWA). Starting in 1972 with two associate members, WCAMPWA has grown into a fully-incorporated, professional organization with hundreds of members. And it shares a long and proud history with Glenco—one of the original WCAMPWA members was Capital Highway Materials, a legacy company of the Abrams family, the founders of Glenco. WCAMPWA now offers a robust slate of educational resources, monthly professional development training sessions, scholarship funding for local students pursuing careers in engineering or public works, and other charitable efforts.
Tyler Seifert serves as President of WCAMPWA, and in his day job, as Assistant Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Scarsdale, NY. He comments on the work of WCAMPWA and how Glenco has supported the organization: “WCAMPWA is very focused on safety and education and we offer a monthly curriculum of training sessions. Glenco has presented at many of our professional development events. They have provided training on topics including Traffic Safety Improvements, MUTCD-Standard Signs Education, and Improvements in the use of Solar Power in Traffic Safety, and their expertise is impactful and highly valued. They have also sponsored charitable events for WCAMPWA, generously supporting our golf tournament which provides scholarship funds for local students, and they have organized our 50-50 and annual raffle, which supports local organizations such as Feeding Westchester for over 20 years!”
Glenco President Glen Abrams comments, “We are always happy to support WCAMPWA and partner with them in creating safer communities. Like us, they have made safety a top priority, and through education have advanced that mission to public works professionals in the area. We also share the core value of supporting our neighbors in need—40% of the residents of Westchester County are food insecure and we are deeply committed to helping fight hunger in the community. We salute WCAMPWA for the work they do and look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Association and its members for another 30-plus years.”
