February’s STEP highlights pavement maintenance and the importance of keeping roadway surfaces in good repair year-round. Now that your snow removal crews have been plowing this winter, it’s time to ask them about manholes on their routes that “sit up” above the grade of the roadway. When the plow hits the front edge of the manhole frame, it can damage the plow, the truck frame, and of greatest concern, the driver. Manhole Protection Rings can solve this widespread problem for municipalities. In addition to the manhole issue, winter weather presents particular challenges to streets and sidewalks as snow, salt, and ice can damage surfaces, creating cracks, potholes, and other hazards. Manhole Protection Rings
PREMARK® preformed thermoplastic manhole protection ring systems are designed with a subtle incline that provides a smooth ride for daily traffic and prevents damage to snow plows and blades. Each ring is made of durable non-beaded 125 mil PREMARK preformed thermoplastic material. As many as three preformed thermoplastic rings can be combined to negotiate severe grade changes.
A kit consists of 3 rings with the same inside diameter but a different outside diameter so a height difference from 1/8” to 3/8” can be adjusted by using one, two, or three rings. PREMARK preformed thermoplastic manhole protection rings are available in standard sizes of 24” and 26” diameters and come in grey or black. Green Patch
